Why We Created Integrity Stitching

There is no shortage of clothing in the world.

What we felt there was room for was clothing with a little more behind it.

Integrity Stitching was created around a simple idea: that the values behind something should matter just as much as the finished product.

Quality. Integrity. Craftsmanship. Community.

They are easy words to put on a website. We wanted to build a business where they actually influence the decisions we make.

Clothing with meaning

We have always been interested in the idea that clothing can say something without having to shout.

A small symbol can carry a story. A familiar shape can mean something completely different to the person wearing it than it does to somebody passing them in the street.

That idea sits at the heart of many of our own collections.

Rather than covering garments in obvious imagery, we prefer subtle details, considered designs and references that reward a second look.

Sometimes the person standing next to you will understand exactly what something means.

Sometimes they will simply think it is a great design.

We rather like that.

Integrity is more than our name

When we chose the name Integrity Stitching, it was never intended to be clever branding.

It was intended to give us something to live up to.

We want customers to feel that they are dealing with real people who care about what they are producing.

That means being honest about what we can do, taking pride in the finished garment and treating customers, suppliers and partners properly.

It also means continually asking ourselves a simple question:

Can we leave this better than we found it?

Whether that is a design, a customer relationship, a partnership or the wider community around us, we think that is a worthwhile standard to work towards.

Built through collaboration

Integrity Stitching is not intended to be a clothing company that simply places a logo onto a garment and sends it out of the door.

We enjoy the process of creating something with people.

That might mean developing one of our own collections from an initial idea, working with a sports club on clothing its members are genuinely proud to wear, or helping an organisation turn a rough concept into a finished garment.

The best results usually come from collaboration rather than compromise.

We listen, explore ideas and then work out how to turn them into something that feels right.

Starting small, thinking long term

We are building Integrity Stitching carefully.

Rather than filling shelves with huge quantities of stock, many of our products are produced specifically when they are ordered.

It allows us to develop collections thoughtfully, experiment with new ideas and concentrate on creating products people actually want to wear.

As the business grows, so will what we can offer.

There will be new collections, collaborations, bespoke projects and probably a few ideas we have not even thought of yet.

But the principles behind them should remain the same.

Where the story goes next

Integrity Stitching is still at the beginning of its story.

That is part of what makes this stage exciting.

Over the coming months we will use this journal to share more about our designs, the ideas behind our collections, the people and organisations we work with and some of the thinking that goes into the garments we create.

Most importantly, we want Integrity Stitching to become something people feel connected to.

Not simply because they like a shirt, polo or hoodie.

But because they appreciate what sits behind it.
