From Idea to Match Day: Creating the New Skipton RFC Minis & Juniors Playing Kit
Share

There is something particularly rewarding about seeing an idea move from the first conversation and early design concepts through to a finished kit being worn and enjoyed by a team.
That is exactly what we have recently had the pleasure of doing with the new playing kit for Skipton RFC Minis & Juniors.
The finished kit has now been produced and delivered, ready for the young players to wear throughout the season. For Integrity Stitching, though, the process started long before the boxes arrived at the club.
Starting with the Club
Every bespoke kit project starts by understanding the organisation it is being created for.
For Skipton RFC Minis & Juniors, the new kit needed to feel immediately recognisable as Skipton. That meant looking carefully at the club identity, the traditional red, black and white colour palette and the style of kit that would work across the different Mini and Junior age groups.
Rather than simply adding a club badge to an existing template, the aim was to create something that genuinely felt like their own.
We worked through the overall style, colour combinations, placement of the club identity and the details that would give the finished kit its individual character.

Bringing the Sponsors into the Design
Grassroots sport is supported by some fantastic local businesses, and the sponsors behind a club deserve to be represented properly.
An important part of the process was therefore incorporating the various sponsor logos into the kit.
Each logo needed to be considered alongside the overall design so that sponsors received good visibility without the shirt beginning to feel overcrowded. That meant looking at the size, position and balance of each logo and making sure they worked together as part of the finished garment.
It is one of those details that can make a significant difference to how professional a completed playing kit looks.

Getting the Numbers Right
Design is only one part of producing a club kit.
We also needed to work with the Minis & Juniors to understand how many garments were required and the range of sizes needed across the different age groups.
For clubs with growing membership and children of very different ages and sizes, this can take some planning. Getting this stage right helps make sure that when the finished order arrives, the kit can actually get into the hands of the players it was designed for.
Once everything was agreed, the designs could move into production.
The Best Part: Seeing the Kit Being Worn
There is always a moment when a design stops being something on a screen and becomes something real.
Seeing the finished Skipton RFC Minis & Juniors kit delivered to the club was fantastic, but seeing the young players excited to receive it is even better.
For us, that is one of the most rewarding parts of working on projects like this.
We can spend hours discussing designs, colours, logos, sizing and production details, but ultimately the important thing is seeing people enjoying something that has been created specifically for them.

Your Club. Your Colours. Your Design.
